Hi,
My name is Ralph, Ralph the River Rat. I am the proud mascot for the Chapter A, River City Wings.
I used to hang out down on the Arkansas River with a bunch of other rats. One day I fell into the river and thought I was a goner. But thank goodness the Chapter A group saw me and plucked me out of the cold, murky water. I had quite a chill and looked like a, pardon the pun, “Drowned Rat”. They wrapped me up in one of their nice leather coats and warmed me right up. When they offered to make me their mascot I wasn’t too sure, but I have had so much fun. And the fringe benefits of having a warm place to stay and plenty to eat are great, even if some of the members have some rather spoiled dogs I have to hang out with. As you can see by my picture, they made sure I had my own nice leatherette jacket, and I’m starting to collect pins to put on it.
So far I have been to Florida with Bill and Belinda Shryock, man was that a fun trip. Then that nice Bobby Johnson took me on his “Big” truck to see what it’s like to work for a living. Granted before I rode with him I thought that truckers just sat on their behinds all day and talked on the CB’s to see where the next restaurant was. But I found out it is really hard work. You won’t believe how many crazy people are allowed to drive automobiles. They are always cutting in front of you or running up behind you where you can not see them. I’m not too sure what some of those words were that Bobby was using, but it sure seemed to make him feel better.
But by far the most fun I have had is riding on a Goldwing. I had no idea how much fun that would be. The wind rushes thru your hair, that’s why they have hats to put on after they take off their helmets, major hair problems when the helmet comes off. You feel so free on a motorcycle. It just takes all your worries and pushes them right out of your head. You feel like you are flying. And there is no better way to see the scenery other than on a bike. I now know why dogs hang their heads out the window….it’s FUN.
I’m making lots of friends around the state with the other Chapter’s and their mascots. If I have not met you yet, please come up and talk to me the next time you see me at a rally or just out on the open road. I’d love to meet you.
Ralph
