Stroke Test

Lets hope you will not ever have the chance to try this but thought it was very good information I found prowling the internet. Might be useful information that you can use some day!

     Smile-Arms-Sentence

Symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness can spell disaster. The stroke victim may suffer brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.  Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

  • Ask the individual to smile.
  • Ask him or her to raise both arms.
  • Ask the person to speak a simple sentence.

If he or she has trouble with any of these tasks, call 9-1-1 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. After discovering that a group of non-medical volunteers could identify facial weakness, arm weakness and speech problems, researchers urged the general public to learn the three questions. They presented their conclusions to the American Stroke Association. Widespread use of this test could result in a prompt diagnosis and treatment of the stroke and prevent possible brain damage.

WHY IS THERE A NEED TO INCREASE MOTORISTS AWARENESS?

  • Approximately 3/4 of motorcycle accidents involve a collision with another vehicle, usually a passenger automobile
  • Of these accidents the driver of the vehicle violates the motorcycle right-of-way and causes the accident in 2/3 of the accidents
  • Drivers of the vehicles involved in a collision are generally unfamiliar with motorcycles
  • Failure of motorists to detect and recognize motorcycles in traffic is the predominating cause of motorcycle accidents

Here is a two and a half minute video that will help you understand why we love riding in Arkansas so much.  It was produced by the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.

If you would like the brochure mentioned in the video, HERE it is in PDF format. (6.3Mb)

Watch the video then come and enjoy riding with us as we explore the roads of the Natural State.  Chapter A would like to extend a warm and congenial welcome to anyone interested in enjoying the Great State of Arkansas to come ride with us.  There is just so much here to see.
